Donation to Mangawhai Coastguard
Mangawhai Lions have donated $15,000 to Coastguard Mangawhai, raised through the Mangawhai Lions Food and Wine Festival with support from New World Mangawhai. The funds will help build a much‑needed drive‑through wash for the Coastguard’s boat, trailer, and tractor—equipment that must enter the surf during every emergency launch and quickly corrodes in saltwater.
This new wash system will extend the life of vital rescue gear, reduce maintenance costs, and keep Kōkako Rescue mission‑ready. It’s a powerful example of community fundraising making a real, practical impact.
Mangawhai can be proud—this generosity helps keep our coastline safer and our volunteers supported.
